Energy Psychology refers to a family of mind-body therapies that link psychological, emotional and physiological distress with disturbances in the body’s energy system. Popular approaches such as Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) involve tapping on meridian acupressure points while facilitating changes in thoughts, feelings and behaviours. The techniques can help to alleviate distressing symptoms, enabling you to feel calmer, more relaxed and confident. The techniques are simple to learn and easy to use and can be applied to a range of difficulties. When energy psychology techniques are used as an integral part of therapeutic work, they can increase the healing potential of talking therapies.
In my experience using these approaches can be particularly useful in alleviating symptons of Post Traumatic Stress disorder (PTSD) and resulting flashbacks, nightmares, anger, as well as other traumas, phobias, anxiety and addictions. They are also helpful in freeing people from problematic cognitive, emotional and behavoural patterns that are resulting in anxiety, distress and depression.
As a qualified Riding Instructor (BHSII) with an interest in sports psychology, I also work with people who would like to improve their sports performance.
